Located on A15 Road and north of river Welland, Deeping is a well-known market town. It is in the South Kesteven district, Lincolnshire England. The town's population is 6,008. The market of this town has existed since 1220. The town has an old town hall that was built in 1839. In addition to the town hall, another notable building in this area is the Saint Guthlacs church which was built in the 15thcentury. Stone building in this town date back to the 17th century.

Among the Deepings, Market Deeping town is the second largest. The town has three schools. Deepings school is the main secondary school in this area. It began as Deeping County modern school. The school began its operations in 1958. In the mid-1970s, the school became a comprehensive school. The other two are primary school, Market Deeping William Hildyard and Market Deeping Community Primary School. There are four churches in the area. St Mary and Guthlac church on Hereward way, Methodist and a Baptist church.

The old bridge on river Welland connects Deepings St James and Deeping Gate. The locals petitioned Elizabeth I to drain the fens since the banks of the river was not in a good state. In 1827 construction on the river was done and a bridge erected. The Welland River is navigable. People travel from the derelict lock found at Deeping ST James to Walsh. The upper part of the river only support canoes and light boats.
