The town and civil parish of Market Rasen is situated about 26 kilomteres south eastern area of Grimsby, 29 kilometres eastern side of Gainsborough, and 21 kilometres north eastern area of Lincoln. It is positioned on the River Rase. Market Rasen is located within the district of West Lindsey in Lincolnshire, United Kingdom. The town is also known as either simply 'Rasen' or East Rasen to the locals, and is a market town as well.

Market Rasen is home to the historical Queen Street. This particular street holds numerous listed buildings. During around ninteenth century, the people wanted to create a Corn Market where trade with farmers could take place, but they couldn't agree on the site where the market should be established so they built two; one on Queen Street and another one on Market Square. Up to now, the Cornwall Exchange in Queen Street exists, and is recognised as a listed building.

One remarkable site in Market Rassen is St Thomas Church. The church was built in around 14th century and has undergone significant restoration in the 18th century and on the latter part of the Victorian Era. In 1563 a groupd or religious reformers took statues from the church and burnt them down. The Parish Church of St. Thomas stands on George Street. At present, the church is still active and has rooms that may be hired for events.
