The town of West Kirby is located in the county of Merseyside in England. It is situated at the River Dee's mouth and is one of the wealthier areas of the Wirral Peninsula. The town used to be centred around St Bridget's Church, but today the West Kirby railway station is at the town's centre. Some of its landmarks include a Victorian promenade and the Hoylake and West Kirby War Memorial (located on Grange Hill) that was designed by Charles Jagger.

The town boasts with Hilbre Islands and West Kirby Marine Lake. Hilbre Islands are three tidal islands that are located at the River Dee's mouth. They are a Site of Special Scientific Interest and is home to the Hilbre Bird Observatory. During low tide, these islands can be reached from West Kirby on foot. The marine lake is a man-made coastal lake and is big enough to hold water sports such as kayaking, sailboarding and canoeing.

Some of the area's educational facilities include West Kirby Grammar School, Calday Grange Grammar School (a state grammar school located above the town on Caldy Hill) and Hilbre High School (a co-educational secondary school located on Frankby Road). The famous James Bond actor, Daniel Craig, attended both Calday Grange Grammar School and Hillbre High School.
