The historical market town of Bourne is located in Lincolnshire and forms part of the South Kesteven district. It is located on the western edge of the Lincolnshire Fens and the eastern slopes of the Kesteven Uplands. It is built around natural springs and when the railway developed it presented a market for bottled mineral water. It is surrounded by several villages and has many waterways, woodland areas and parks. The town has a population of more or less 15 000 people.

The town has many listed buildings such as the Bourne Abbey (Grade I), Parish Church of St. Peter and St. Paul (Grade I), Bedehouse Bank (Grade II) and Red Hall (Grade II). One of its nearby landmarks is Baldock's Mill that is situated in South Street. Baldock's Mill used to be a watermill, but it has been converted into Bourne Civic Society's Heritage Centre. Several artefacts, such as a waterwheel, are kept here. Other nearby landmarks include Bourne Wood (roughly 400 acres of woodland), Bowthorpe Oak and Grimsthorpe Castle.

Other places of interest are Wellhead Park, Bourne Leisure Centre, Bourne War Memorial Gardens and its town centre. Bourne's High Street has many local business such as a butcher, florist, hardware store, computer store and pubs. The town boasts with three supermarkets (Heron Frozen Foods, Sainsbury's and a Tesco Express) and also has several schools.
