Private Detective in Frinsted

Frinsted, sometimes also called Frinstead, is a small isolated village and civil parish that belongs to the Maidstone District of Kent County, South-East England. The population of Frinsted remains relatively unchanged for the past 200 years - it was 153 people in 1801, and 171 in 2001 according to the census. The settlement was mentioned as Fredenestede in the Domesday Book and was the only settlement at that time in the surrounding area that had a church.

The parish of Frinsted is part of the benefice of Tunstall with Bredgar, together with parishes of Tunstall, Milstead, Rodmersham, Bredgar with Bicknor and Wormshill. The village church, which is Grade II* listed, is dedicated to St Dunstan. The church was built mostly in the 12th century of flint with stone dressings and has a plain tile roof. The bell tower has 6 bells; an enthusiastic local group rings them on Monday evenings.

The church saw a number of additions over the centuries: for example, windows were added in 19th centuries, although they are made in 14-century style. In 1868 the church was thoroughly restored by Gilbert Scott, a renowned Victorian architect. There are several so-called "courts", i.e. former manor houses, standing around the village - Yokes Court, Wrinsted court and Madams Court. The nearest primary school is Milstead and Frinsted Church of England Primary School, located in Milstead.
