Private Detective in Ashurst

About 8 km west of Turnbridge Wells is the village called Ashurst in the civil parish of Speldhurst Kent county. It lies on the border of East Sussex and Kent county with the River Medway forming the boundary. The river as a weir and two watermills that have now been both closed. It has a small population of 247 people in an area of 3.52 square km. A notable building in this village is the St. Martin of Tours parish church built in the 10th century.

Dedicated to St Martin, the parish church was built during the 10th century. It is a small wonderfully built church that has served the population in Ashurst for centuries. Built between 921 and 927 Ad, it was first used as a monk house and has undergone three major restorations. During the rebuilding in 1860 it took 22 years and included the rebuilding of a Chancel corner, adding vestry, lowering the floor slightly and removing a gallery.

Ashurst post office in Kent is a grade II listed building built in the late 17th century and early 18th century. It had some extensions in the 19th century and then in 1982. The building is timber framed with brick stacks and weatherboards and peg-tile roof. It is a two storey building has a 20th century front fixed-pane windows and doors on the left end of the structure. On the ground floor there is no partition between the two original rooms.
