Private Detective in Royton

Royton is a town with a population of about 21 thousand that lies within the Metropolitan Borough of Oldham in Greater Manchester, England. Since 18th century economy of Royton was connected with textile manufacturing, particularly cotton spinning. Also, coal mining started in 17th century, peaked in 19th and declined, with the last pit closed in 1902. After deindustrialisation took place, Royton's economic activity has been mostly focused around the business park at Salmon Fields.

Royton has a number of historical landmarks. For example, Royton Town Hall, a municipal building, which was opened in September 1880. It has a domed roof and a splendid clock tower with a copper cupola. On three sides of the clock tower Latin mottos are written: "Time flies" (Tempus Fugit), "So the years pass by" (Sic Labitur Aetas) and "Have regards to the end" (Finem Respice). The clock face on the east side is two times smaller than the other three faces.

Like many other towns all over the Britain, Royton has its War Memorial erected to commemorate its citizens killed during the First World War. A Portland stone obelisk stands at the top of Tandle Hill. The memorial was unveiled on 22 October 1921. Unfortunately, in 1969 plaques with names of the fallen were stolen, but another ones were made and installed in the grounds of the local Church of St Paul.
