Private Detective in Poplar

Poplar is located in the London Borough of Tower Hamlets in East London, England. It is primarily a residential area and nearby Charing Cross. The architecture of the area is a blend of council estates and terraced houses. Its district centre, Chrisp Street Market, was the United Kingdom's first pedestrian shopping area. Chrisp Street Market has close to 100 stalls, apartments, shops and an impressive clock tower. Two railway stations (Langdon Park DLR and All Saints) and several London Buses routes serve the market.

The two housing estates - Balfron Tower and Lansbury Estate - serve as good examples of public housing. The Lansbury Estate is one the biggest estates in London and is built on a site that was bombed severely during World War II. Balfron Tower is a Grade II listed building and is part of the Brownsfield Estate. Some other impressive buildings include Poplar Baths (Grade II listed building), Church Green (situated on the site of the previous Catholic church) and a modern sculpture by Nicolas Moreton.

One of its main places of interest is St Matthias Old Church. It is situated on High Street adjacent Poplar Recreation Ground and Poplar Town Hall. This church was built in 1654 by the East India Company and is a Grade II* listed building. Another religious site that is also a place of interest is the St Mary and St Joseph Church (a listed building in Lansbury Estate).
