Private Detective in Thornbury

Located about 19 km north of Bristol city is this medium market town called Thornbury in the county of Gloucestershire. As per the census of 2011 it had a population of 12,063. Evidence of settlement takes the town as far back as the Neolithic and Bronze ages, Roman coins dating back to 260-348 AD have also been found in Thornbury hoard. The St. Mary's church was built in the 12th century and is the town's oldest surviving building.

In 1911 there was a market in the town's High Street but moved to Rock street in the late 90s. This was replaced by small market in a car park close to the United Reformed Church. The old market hall is being used now as a clothes shop. The White Lion pub among others are located in the High Street. Other than the high street, Thornbury also has a shopping center called St. Mary's center. It also has two supermarkets and several places of worship.

Another place to see while in Thornbury is the town pump that is no longer functional. It is a small island at the bottom of High Street with a hand pointing to Gloucester. Due to being a road hazard, the old pump was removed by the council in 1924. This new one was then built in 1984 and painted temporarily in gold celebrating the Golden Jubilee in 2002. Usually, it is adorned with flowers and birthday greetings.
