Wivenhoe is a beautiful town located in Essex, England. In the Doomsday Book of 186, the town was referred to as Wiivnhou. It grew mainly as a port with two flourishing shipyards. Due to the inability of ships to navigate any additional step to River Colne, the town became a functioning port for Colchester. As a major port in the area, activities such as shipbuilding, fishing and commerce industry took centre stage. The rapid growth of the town can be traced back in 1863 after the introduction of the railway.

If your purpose to visit the town is to have fun and tour different notable places, then the Wivenhoe Park is the place to be. Situated on the eastern edge of the Colchester, the park is a multi-acre landscaped green surrounding and the area of the Wivenhoe house. It is famous for being the location of Constable's landscape painting which shows the park being painted in a romantic period. From 1960s, the park has been home to the University of Essex.

In 2014, it was ranked among the top 20 universities in the UK for the high quality of its research and as well top 5 for its social science by the Research Excellence Framework. That's why it has more than 132 countries represented in its Students body.
