Steyning is a small beautiful rural town located in West Sussex, England. In the north end of the town, you will find the ever lively River Adur. The town of Steyning developed as a result of several activities which boosted its economy from the medieval period. These include agriculture, a tannery, brewing, and to some level brick making. The arrival of the railway line in 1861 also boosted the practices of the town to grow further. The town also has a spring far which it hosts every last Monday of May yearly.

Visiting this town will make you learn more about its amazing history and notable people of the area. One of the famous people of this town was Ethelwulf of Wessex and his son King Alfred the Great. The tombstone of Ethelwulf in the church porch was his burial ground before he was later transferred to a Saxon grave slab based in Winchester. The two incised crosses on the tombstone indicate a Royal burial given to him.

It is believed that St Cuthman constructed a church at one time devoted it to himself but it was later named St Andrew. It became joint and now it's known as St Andrew and St Cuthman based at a place where he made a stop after transporting his mother in a wheelbarrow. The first church was made of wooden and its long gone as currently there is a 12thcentury church building redesigned by the Normans. The porch was constructed in the 15thcentury while the tower in the 16thcentury.
