Private Detective in Ruislip

Ruislip is a town that belongs to the London Borough of Hillingdon in West London. Ruislip has deep historic roots: it was mentioned in the Domesday Book (1086) as Rislepe, and there is a number of well-preserved medieval buildings in the town. For example, the Great Barn, built about 1280, and Little Barn dating from the 16th century (turned into a public library in 1937). Also, there is the Manor Farm House built around 1500.

Ruislip parish church, St Martin's, dates back to the mid-13th century. Before 1245 the church was mentioned in records simply as "Ruislip church". It is believed that the monks from the Bec Abbey named the church after Martin of Tours, a saint in Normandy. The church building had been modified and extended over the years - for example, in 1870 the building was significantly refurbished by the architect George Gilbert Scott. Some medieval wall paintings have been preserved inside in some places.

Next to the Church stands a row of houses with jettied first storeys, along with a row of asylums for the poor. Both houses and asylums were built in the 17th century. The town of Ruislip has retained much of its charm and character in spite of its rapid growth and development in the 20th century, after The Metropolitan Railway arrived at Ruislip in 1904, and the town became a part of the "Metroland".
