Private Detective in North Walsham

The civil parish of North Walsham is a small market town in Norfolk with a population of 12,634 as at 2011 census. It is about 12 km to the south of Cromer with Norwich being 24 km away to the south. The North Walsham railway station serves this town and its main road is the A149 and the B1145 route also serves it as it runs from Mundesley to King's Lynn. It's prosperity rose during the 12th century with the arrival of weavers from Flanders.

The market cross was started around 1550 during the time of King Edward VI though it was not completed until 1555. The cross has weathered a lot of calamities like the Great Fire of 1600 and the effect of the Second World War bombs. This tollhouse is a national monument and is listed as a grade I building. It stands in the market place where traders have been selling their agricultural wares over the centuries.

The ruined tower is very visible from whichever direction you approach the town. Built in the early 18th century and was only second in height to the Norwich cathedral standing at 147 feet. It began falling in 1724 and ended in 1836 with a heavy tremor throughout the town. Attempts were made over the centuries to rebuild it but only one plan by Sir. Charles Nicholson is visible at the North porch of the church.
