Private Detective in Wilton

The town and civil parish of Wilton boasts a rich heritage. It is located in the county of Wiltshire at the junction of the River Wylye and the River Nadder. The town used to be known for its carpet industry that started in the 1740s. The Wilton Royal Carpet Factory was established in an attempt to save the former carpet factory. The town had two railway stations (Wilton North and Wilton South). However, both these stations closed and the closest railway station is currently located at Salisbury.

Some of its landmarks include Wilton House, The Old Courtyard and the Church of England parish church of St Mary and St Nicholas. Wilton House and its gardens are open to the public and the South Wilts Gold Course and Salisbury Racecourse are also located on the estate. The present earl, William Herbert (the 18th Earl of Pembroke), along with his family currently reside in Wilton House.

The Old Courtyard used to be part of the Wilton carpet factory, but the site has been redeveloped and is currently utilised as a shopping area. St Mary and St Nicholas is rather big and is designated as a Grade I listed building. This church was built in the 1840s and the most impressive facet of the church is its Italian bell tower that is more than 30 m tall.
