To the north of the town about 8 km is the ruins of the Castle Acre castle and Acre Priory formerly very important castles in the land.

The market was built in 1783 by the Earl of Oxford, George Walpole, it is central to the town as its growth has been centred on the activities of the market for the last centuries it has been existing. It has a statue of Crers on top, this is the goddess of the harvest. To its west are some old buildings that housed Hammond's Grammar School. Accessing the town is quite easy through the railway station in the town.

The Green Britain center previously known as the Ecotech center and focusing on green energy is found in the town. It has two large wind turbines that generate a total of 3 megawatts and was built in 1999.
