Maghull town is a civil parish found between northern Liverpool and southern Ormskirk. It's located at Sefton in Merseyside County in England although it was historically in Lancanshire County. The 2011 UK census recorded the town to have had 20444 inhabitants. HM Prison Kennet and Ashworth hospital are also found in Maghull. 20thcentury settlement of semi-detached and detached housing offers the main hosing in the town. The Local Government Act 1974 led to the change of the local administrative council from a parish into a town council.

Central Square has the main shopping centre found on north-west of Maghull the original town centre. Its home to a police station, a number of banks, several shops and Morrisons supermarket is nearby. Tree View Court is another shopping area found in Kennessee Green and Meadows shops near Maghull Town Hall which houses library and sports facilities. In media, the town is served by local newspapers published by Trinity Mirror and radio coverage by BBC and Liverpool radio-stations.

A59 roads divides and the Maghull railway station also provides rail services to the town. A proposal by Merseyrail that plans opening a second station at Maghull North which will see construction of bus routes to nearby Kirkby, Southport, Ormskirk and Liverpool city centres areas with most running past or near Maghull Square. M57 and M58 motorways originating at Switch Island and the Leeds and Liverpool Canal running through the centre of old Maghull facilitate transport in the town.
