Market Harborough is an administrative town and headquarter of Harborough District Council. The market tow is in the district of Harborough, Leicestershire England. The town's population is 22,911. The town residents are served by direct train services connecting the town with Nottingham, Sheffield, Derby and Leicester. The area of Harborough was formerly part of Rockingham Forest. This was a royal hunting forest for medieval monarchs like William I. The boundaries of the forest stretched from Stamford through Corby, Rothwell and Oundle.

The town's centre is dominated by St Dionysius Parish Church. This is because the church of this town does not have a church yard. The Steeple of St Dionysius Parish Church was constructed in 1300 using grey stones. It can be seen from far as it rises higher than other buildings. In 1470, the church itself was constructed. The church serves the local resident of the town and villagers from Great Bowden and Little Bowden

The town was first habited by the Saxons. This was between 210 and 1066. The town's name Harborough means oat hill. The Old Grammar school is located next to St Dionysius Parish Church. It is made of timber dating from 1614. In June 1645 the town of Harborough became King's Army headquarters. Currently the town has a canal, a branch of Grand Union Canal in the northern part of the town. The branch canal connects to the main canal at Foxton Locks and Foxton. There is also a railway line connecting to London.
