Private Detective in Whitworth

The civil parish of Whitworth is situated in the county of Lancashire. It is a small town and according to a census completed in 2011 it has only about 7 500 residents. The construction of a turnpike road helped the town to grow and expand on an industrial level. Coal mining, quarrying and yarn were some of its most important industries. Smaller hamlets, like Cowm Top, form part of Whitworth. It is twinned with a German town, Kandel.

Whitworth is centred around the Whitworth Valley and is located at the base of the Pennine Hills. Its location makes it the perfect site for motor sports and hang gliding. The town offers attractions and amenities such as the Red Lion (a pub located in Whitworth Square), the Whitworth Waterski and Recreation Centre (located at Cowm Reservoir), the Whitworth Angling Club, Lobden Golf Club, the Festival Park Bowling Club and the Whitworth Leisure Centre (located on John Street).

The town also boasts several Grade II listed buildings. Some of these listed buildings are St John the Evangelist's Church, Whitworth House (located in Whitworth Square), St Bartholomew's Church (damaged by a fire and had to be rebuilt in 1988), the Methodist Church, Well House (18th-century sandstone house) and Healey Dell Viaduct. The viaduct carried a branch of the railway across the River Spodden, but it is currently no longer needed.
