It is believed that the town expanded further in the 17thcentury when it was a booming textile hub. Also, in the 1850s, mills were all over the town and help to rise the towns economy to a notch higher. Though the area is not that busy as it were in the medieval times, Kirkham is still a bustling and busy town in Lancashire.

The church which is located in the heart of the town was built as a Congregational church in 1896. The famous architect of the church, Briggs and Wolstenholme designed the church in a Gothic and Romanesque fashion. The church was constructed using rock faced sandstone with sandstone slate below the roof. The church also has a beautiful long tower that can be seen from a distance. This ancient structure is a beauty to observe.

As you walk down the streets, you will come across a memorial built in 1887 at the town end for remembrance of the Golden Jubilee of Queen Victoria, Tough presently, the memorial was moved to a place next to the United Reformed church.
