West Malling is situated in the English county of Kent. This market town has a small population (between 3 000 to 5 000 inhabitants) and boasts with good rail and road links. Its railway station, West Malling for Kings Hill station, is located on the fringe of town and offers regular services. West Malling is said to be the spot of Kent's first ever recorded cricket match and inter-county cricket in the county used to be played at the town's ground (situated off Norman Road).

This market town also boasts with many historic buildings such as the Prior's House (a medieval hall located in King Street), Ford House, the Swan Hotel, Went House (built in 1720), St Mary's Abbey for Benedictine nuns and an abbey church. Both the Swan Hotel and the abbey church are designated listed buildings and several other listed buildings are found all over the town especially on High Street.

St Leonard's Tower, one of West Malling's main places of interest, is located in St Leonard's Road. This Norman keep was built by Bishop Gundulf between 1077 and 1108 and today it is a Grade I listed building. It is made from a hard, coarse sedimentary rock and is about 20 m tall. Another man attraction is Manor Park Country Park. It used to be private gardens, but was turned into an open space for the public.
