In the northwest of Gravesend is the small town called Swancombe in the county of Kent. It is a prehistoric area due to the excavation of tools and bone fragments from 1935. The site is called Swancombe Herritage Park. The 400,000 year old skull fragments can be seen at the museum in London. This area has so much history with evidence of Vikings settlement and their shipping movements. The area was important in the early history of cement.

The all saints church Swancombe in Kent was built in 1894 in gothic style with stone dressings and knapped flint. It got a grade II listing in 1982. The church is located along Hill road and is a living history given the design and great architecture both on the outside and interior with great fittings. It as built by Richard Norman Shaw for the cement workers and has survived so far. It has experienced extensive damage over the years.

Located on the south rod in Swancombe, the Ebbsfleet academy was opened as a coeducational center with academy status acquired in November 2013. It is now managed by the brook Learning Trust with coordination with the Kent county council for admissions. The school offers GCSEs and BTECs for the pupils. The complex where it is located includes a library, health center and pharmacy. It is also placed adjacent to the manor Primary school in the town.
