Sandwich is a historic town with a population of 4,985 that stands on the River Stour. Sandwich belongs to the district of Dover, Kent in South-eastern part of England. Originally located next to Cattle Market, in 1878 the Hospital was rebuilt on Woodnesborough Road, where it stands now. There is one more long-standing Hospital in Sandwich, St. Bartholomew's, dating back to 1190; it was initially built to accommodate pilgrims and travelers. Its chapel, built in 1217, is still in use.
