Private Detective in Graveney

Graveney is a pretty small village with a population of about 500 people, located in Swale District of Kent County, between market town Faversham and seaside town Whitstable, England. The main part of the village is set along the intersection of three roads, and the rest of the houses are dispersed amongst the surrounding farmland. The village has a regular bus service, a local pub named 'The Four Horseshoes', a primary school and an old church.

All Saints Church in Graveney dates mainly to the 14th century, but it was built earlier, in Norman language times. Judging from the style and material of the oldest part, it's possible to date the church mid-12th century. The long distance footpath, which is 163 miles in total, called Saxon Shore Way, goes not far from the village; it goes around the Graveney Marshes, which are part of the South Swale Site of Special Scientific Interest.

Graveney is also known as a place where The Graveney Boat was found in 1970 during widening and deepening of drainage channels. More than 1,000 year-old Anglo-Saxon clinker-built boat was 40ft long and 10ft wide; it is the only vessel of this kind that has survived. Historians suggest that the vessel had a crew of four, could carry under sail five tons of cargo, and it is likely that it sailed across the North Sea.
