The small town of Bishop's Waltham has many Georgian buildings and boasts with an English Heritage monument as one of its landmarks, namely the ruins of Bishop's Waltham Palace. Abbey Mill was built in 1862. It closed when the milling operation was moved to the Edwards Brewery site located in Lower Lane. After its closure it was used for offices until approximately 2005 when it was sold to the Sainsbury's supermarket chain for redevelopment. St. Peter's Church plays an active role in the local community. Over the centuries, St. Peter's Church has been rebuilt and restored and has undergone profound changes. It has a very prominent bell tower.
