Hazel Groove is a small settlement in the Greater Manchester county within the Metropolitan Borough of Stockport. It got the name after the large numbers of hazel trees in that area. The A6 that runs from Luton to Carlisle passes through the center of hazel Groove. It is also the southern terminus of the 192 bus route running from Manchester to Stockport. The Hazel Groove railway station serves this area running through the Hope Valley and Buxton rail lines from Stockport.

The bacon factory in the town is one of the major employers serving both Norton and Malton areas. It has undergone management changes in the recent past and is now known as the Karro Food Group. the presence of the two roads A169 going to Pickering and Whitby and the A64 from Leeds makes it easy to ferry finished products to the market and facilitate movement of employees. The other important transport network is that of the Malton railway served by TransPennine Express.

Another major feature in this town of Norton is the Malton railway station that serves both Norton and Malton. It is operated by the TransPennine Express providing passenger services. It has one train every hour from Monday to Saturday then the time doubles on Sundays. The train services haveseen a lot of changes from the time it was launched with routes being closed like the Driffield route having freight and occasional summer excursions trains up to 1958 when they were reversed at Scarborough road junction.
