Private Detective in West Ham

West Ham is arguably best known for their football club, West Ham United F.C. The club is nicknamed the Irons and the Hammers because of their connection with the Thames Ironworks and Shipbuilding Company. Although football is the primary interest of the area, rugby also receives attention. The home of three rugby teams (East London RFC, Phantoms RFC and King's Cross Steelers) is located on Holland Road adjacent West Ham Station. West Ham was also the place of birth of the famous boxer, Lennox Lewis.

Originally the parish was grouped into the following three wards: Stratford-Langthorne, Plainstow and Church-street. West Ham was part of the Church-street ward. Later the parish formed a municipal borough and expanded to turn into a county borough to form the London Borough of Newham. West Ham is close to Charing Cross and is separated from Bromley-by-Bow by waterways.

The western part of West Ham is a post-industrial neighbourhood, while the eastern part is mainly residential with post-war social housing and Victorian terraced housing. A main place of interest is the West Ham Parish Church of All Saints that is located on Church Street, Stratford. Another place of interest is its station, West Ham station, located on Manor Road and Memorial Avenue. It was first opened in the 1850s and today it is served by Docklands Light Railway services, London Underground and National Rail.
