This market town Stroud is found in the county of Gloucestershire and is the main town of this district. History puts Stroud as a big participant in the industrial revolution as a cloth town with woollen mills powered by the small rivers.

Built in 1833, the subscription rooms has been playing a part in the artistic and civic life of this town. It was built by public subscription hence the name. It has a ballroom that can accommodate up to 450 people presenting all kinds of comedy, live music, theatre and workshops. The floors are so popular with dance and dance classes. George Room located on the ground floor regularly host exhibitions and some small scale performances.

Hill Paul building is one great attraction in the town of Stroud. It was built in 1898 for Williamson Tratt & Co which was later taken over in 1902 by Hill Paul & Co hence the new name. The clothing company closed production in 1989 and the building purchased for demolition since it was unsafe for flats. The people of Stroud stopped this demolition work and has today been restored and is a luxury apartments.
