Private Detective in Stow-on-the-Wold

The flourishing and lovely market town of Stow-on-the-Wold is situated in Gloucestershire, England. The town was formerly known as Stow St Edward or sometimes Edwardstow. The town grew as a result of the trade that took place in the area made possible by the Norman lords. It gained its market charter in 1330 and since then, it has been a busy area. On the edge of the town, a horse fair is still conducted every year.

With its central location on the hill and at a convergence of roads, the town was strategically located and desirable for a market centre. From many years ago, the town has been a market town with its market day being Thursday of every week. The market square in the centre of the town is the base of this vibrant market. Also, the market square has held many fairs since 1330 and is well known all over Britain. Several goods are sold here such as fresh farm produce, luxury goods, wool and other products.

If you have a great desire to learn the history of this town, there are various ancient buildings that can help you do that. But don't forget to stop by and visit one of the landmark and magnificent structures of the town which is the St Edwards church. This medieval structure is made up of big stained glass windows, buttresses and neatly preserved churchyard. The church has a 17thcentury porch, and a 14thcentury roof. Despite undergoing several renovations, the church still has its original appeal with a great history.
