Private Detective in Wickford

Located less than 50 km from London is the town of Wickford. It is located in the county of Essex and has about 32 500 residents. The name of the town loosely translates to a site where sheep can cross. Its proximity to London has turned it into a commuter town. Its high street provides a variety of shops and some of its amenities include a library, community centre and swimming pool.

A small estate, Shotgate, also forms part of the town. A park, a few village shops and a play area for children are provided by this estate. The River Crouch flows through the town. It flows in a concrete bank that was created to prevent flooding. This concrete bank and other changes were made to the river in 1960 after the town was hit by a flood in 1958 and 1960. The town is also said to be the place of origin of Naturism in the UK and in the 1920s the English Gymnosophist Society was established.

In 2004 the Wickford Masterplan was presented. This Masterplan include proposals to design new public spaces, improve the retail space, redevelop the High Street and encourage urban living. Some of the projects that have been completed include the demolition of several buildings and the development of a part of the Riverside Place.
