The name Manningtree is thought to mean many trees. Manningtree has the oldest Methodist church in the district of Essex. The church is on the South Street of the town. Another great architectural building that attracts people to this town is the Manning town Library. The town's library was initially built for the purpose of corn exchange during trade. In the 19thcentury it was used as a public entertainment centre.

Geographically, Manningtree town is located on the eastern side of Dedham Vale. The town is situated on Holbrook bay.The town is surrounded by villages of Brantham, Lawford and Dedham. The town has a railway station. The station was built and opened in 1846. The railway station links up London Liverpool street, Colchester, Ipswich, Harwich and Norwich. Currently the railway station at this town is operated and run by Albellio Greater Anglia, a train operating company.
