Private Detective in Ashbourne

Ashbourne is a market town situated in the Derbyshire Dales that has long been known for the large number of historical buildings and shops. In the medieval times Ashbourne was often visited by the pilgrims who rested there before they continue their journey towards the shrine at Dunstable in Bedfordshire. Since Ashbourne is relatively close to the southern edge of the Peak District it was granted the name 'Gateway to Dovedale' or the 'Gateway to the Peak District'. The population of Ashbourne is 7,112 people.

One of the most popular locations in Ashbourne is the St. Oswald's Church. The church was named in honor of Oswald of Northumbria, who was the King of Northumbria and ruled form 634 until his death. It is believed that the construction of the church was finalized in the beginning of the 14th century, however to get its current form and design it has been restored several times. Currently it is the town's major landmark.

Another popular landmark in Ashbourne is the Ashbourne railway station. Initially there were two stations that helped the town connect with the surrounding areas. The first station was open in 1852 and after changing location and ownership it was officially closed for traffic in 1963. Work on the second station started in 1898. Today on the location of the railway station there is a car park and on the location of the original station is the St.Oswald's Hospital.
